West Pavilion

Not since David Ross and George Ade chose to help build the stadium that bears their names has the athletics complex at the West Lafayette Campus seen such activity. When the Ross-Ade Stadium renovation is complete, the facility will boast an enlarged concourse, brick façade, vastly improved and expanded concession stands and restrooms, new concrete throughout, larger seats, a new press box, premium suites and seats, and much more.

Phase I of the project will be completed by the start of the 2003 football season. Before that, all season ticket holders will be moved to seats in locations different than where they will sit for the 2002 season. The reason: The first phase will reduce seating capacity by roughly 5,000 seats because the new seating bowl will have wider seating and wider aisles with handrails, increased seating for fans in wheelchairs, and a wedge-shaped outdoor club seating section. A plan and schedule are in place to give all fans who do not opt to purchase club seats the chance to select new, relocated season tickets.

After the completion of Phase I, Intercollegiate Athletics staff will assess the need to proceed to Phase II. If season ticket sales remain strong, work could begin as soon as 2005 on an 8,000-seat deck on the east side of the stadium. A third phase is also part of the master plan that guides the project. That phase would add a 10,000-seat on the north bend of the stadium.

The glimpse of the ongoing work depicted on the purduesports.com Web site should keep Boilermakers near and far up to date on the project.
